Straight quote from

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has heaped a huge amount of praise on Metal Gear Rising developer Platinum Games, revealing that he would like to make a sequel to the action spinoff and would only consider partnering with the Bayonetta studio for the job.

In a roundtable attended by SPOnG, the producer also opined that Platinum is just a technological upgrade away from being "a world class studio."

"As far as [Metal Gear] Rising 2 is concerned, I really do have that in my mind, and I want to make it," Kojima explained. "And if we do make it, it would definitely be with Platinum. I don’t think anyone else could do it.

"Of course, my ulterior motive is that if Rising 2 came out, it would be guaranteed to sell! Which means that I wouldn’t have to worry about that with [new project, Metal Gear Solid] Ground Zeroes. I can just do whatever I want!" Kojima reveals more about his intentions for Ground Zeroes right here.

"Honestly, I’ve been making games for over 25 years and the state that this game was in when it went to Platinum... was really a mess! The fact that they were able to pull it off is very impressive," said Kojima on the troubled development process for Metal Gear Rising. He added that his one worry about Platinum taking on the job was its reputation for taking its time with projects.

"Platinum makes excellent games, there’s no arguing about that - but they’re not very good at honouring schedules," he laughed. "I made it clear that in order to succeed on a worldwide scale, you not only have to make a good product, but you also have to keep a tight schedule. This time, they came through and delivered the product on time. I think even [Hideki] Kamiya-san was surprised!"

Then comes the bromance. "Really, Platinum’s team is great at creating action games. They do it better than anyone else. I love them personally, as individuals... and now they’re able to do things to schedule as well! That’s very important.

"The one thing I think they can still improve on is their technological level. Their technology is not quite up to par, so maybe for the next project if we did something with them, we would maybe have them use the FOX engine. Or, perhaps their next generation engine. I’m not sure. But it’s the only point I would improve.

"If they did manage to get their technology up to par, then they would really be a world class studio.""

In another news, however, Mr. Kojima stated that he would like to have Gray Fox
as the main protagonist of Rising 2. :iconalertplz:
Here's the thing: [link]
Hands down, Gray Fox is a great character, but I thought Rising was Raiden's game.
And seriously, that ending they left us in Rising with,
they just can't make the next game with Gray Fox...
I dont know about other fans' opinion, but Id rather see
the concept Mr. Kojima originally planned for "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" in the next game,
like what happened to Raiden between MGS2 and MGS4.
But given the ending, that wouldn't make much sense, either.

I just destroyed the happy news...I'M SO SORRY. :iconheartbrokenplz:

They've spent so much time making us like Raiden, it doesn't make sense to make that switch. It's like when Kojima made MGS2 and everybody freaked out over having to suddenly play as Raiden instead of Snake. It took several years for anyone to accept him. Now we do, and he wants to switch him out with another character? *hmphrhg*

This is pure aweosmeness though. Gray fox is a great character and I want to see more with him! I don't think Raiden's story is over, but that doesn't mean that Gray Fox can't get a chance. And Kojima lubs him so he wanted something more with him. Although that article makes it look like it won't happen. And 'nano machine zombies'.. like.... wut?
But we'll just have to see, chances are you'll get what you want and it'll be about Raiden again anyways XD
kamilein Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013
I was just kind of surprised,
because it's so random!
Especially those nanomachine-zombies, indeed!
I trust in Kojima for making a great game, regardless the protagonist, though.
Just in the case of MGR, the ending wasn't conclusive (at least to me ),
and Raiden's intentions don't seem like him at all.

So I would like some kind of explanation or conclusion,
before Kojima goes off making a game based on Gray Fox.
Its funny how the developer-team disagrees with Kojima on his ideas though,
I kind of feel sorry for him.

Aaah, we'll see!! Before Rising 2 well probably get to play
MGS: Ground Zeroes first anyway. :iconsuperw00tplz:
Saiyakupo Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013
It's not really random. Kojima wanted to do a Gray Fox game to begin with. He wanted Rising to be about Gray Fox but his team wanted it to be about Raiden. Now he's like 'OKAY WE MADE A RAIDEN GAME NOW CAN WE MAKE A GRAY FOX GAME???' XD
Nanomachine zombies. fdsghdslfsd. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT THOUGH XDDD

I didn't beat the game yet lol ghslgd;sfdsfa

Maybe there will be DLC? I dunno. XD

I agree in all points. I almost cried at this kind of ending in Rising... I love Raiden and wanted to wait what happens next T-T
my life has no meaning till I won't get Raiden back!!! >.<
kamilein Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013
I was pretty much just staring at the screen in disbelief
about Raiden quoting Armstrong "fighting for reasons they don't understand,
causes they don't believe in" in the end, it didn't seem like him at all.
Maybe Im not getting some kind of message here...: <
And if Raiden goes off butchering PMC-guys,
what about his family...?
NihonOaisuru Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
yeah you're right, I was really angry that they didn't even show his family once, it's sad
therefore I would like to see what happens next! I hope he won't become a second armstrong in mind or whatever... it's weird :/
I didn't get it neither
gracefuldemon Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013  Professional Writer
I agree with you completely.
It's not that I don't like Gray Fox - he is a good character, everybody knows that - but Raiden is far more special to me. From Revengeance, they can release at least 2 more stories: what happened after Revengeance and what happened between MGS2 and MGS4. If they release a game with Gray Fox... I'll eventually get it, but my heart will be broken.
kamilein Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013
I agree with you. :aww:
Especially the Rising-ending leaves so many questions for us.
I really liked Raiden's performance in MGS2 and MGS4
and at the beginning of Rising the mix of those two portrayals was evident,
but I completely felt at a loss when I saw the ending.
Even with Raiden's realisation that people aren't free to choose their fate,
he wouldn't just go ahead and butcher PMC-employees.
That would be like the least productive thing to do.

I really hope the development-team persuades Kojima to
postpone Rising with Gray Fox,
because...that ending was very depressing in a way. : <
gracefuldemon Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2013  Professional Writer
I understand you - yes. The ending sure plants a number of questions in the gamers' minds. I believe it was meant to be that way. :)
On another note... I do like Kojima's storytelling, but I hope he doesn't write it himself... and if he does, I hope it's as a co-writer. I much prefer Etsu Tamari's style. :aww:
Yes, I shall agree to a story written by Tamari co-written with Kojima. I DEMAND THIS! (oh, I'm hopeless...)
